Antoine de Rivarol
26 June 1753–11 April 1801

He was a Royalist French writer during the Revolutionary era and a brilliant journalist and commentator.
Most of Rivarol's "maximes" hold only for their place and time. Nevertheless, their brilliance is always incontrovertible and some of them are still actual.
